Abstract
656,978. Softening shoe stiffeners before assembly. JOHNSON, J. E. Jan. 21, 1949, No. 1756. Addition to 619,989, Group VII]. [Class 18] [Also in Group VII] The internal receptacle 7, in which stiffeners to be conditioned are placed, is rotatably mounted on the outer container 1 and is divided into open-topped compartments so that any one may be brought below an air-tight hinged closure 4 of an opening 3 in a permanent cover 2. The walls 8, 14, 15 of all the compartments and the floors 17 are perforated and are interchangeable with corresponding parts on the various compartments the walls fitting at their ends into grooved posts 11, 11<SP>1</SP> secured, in spaced relation to a spider-like base 30. Absorbent material is located at 18, 19 on the base and walls of the container 1 and also at 21 in the central inner compartment 16. The receptacle 7 is carried on a hollow spindle 9 which projects through the cover 2, the upper end being closed by a filler cap 22 by which solvent may be introduced. A disc 23 with indicia corresponding to each of the compartments is provided on the spindle 9 to facilitate, turning the receptacle to bring any selected compartment into register with the opening 3. The container 1 may be supported on a stand or pedestal 29.
