Abstract

656,969. Magnetic separators. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd., DAVIS, C. W. V., WESTWOOD, H. W., and WESTWOOD, W. C. C. Jan. 19, 1949, No. 1487. [Class 72] A magnetic separator for removing magnetizable solids from a fluid comprises a cylindrical non- magnetic casing 1 containing one or more permanent bar magnets retained therein by bolt 2 and nut 3 which also retain pole piece 4. Filter 'elements 5 consist of an annular non - magnetic core 6, (see Fig. 2), of channel section, and fins produced by bending a strip of magnetizable material 7 as shown. The fins are of less axiallength than the cores, thus providing clearances between adjacent elements which may be assembled with the fins in line or staggered. An outer casing 10 encloses the assembly. Specification 527,771 is referred to.
