Abstract

656,583. Signs. MIDGLEY, G. Aug. 27, 1948, Nos. 22576 and 29552. [Class 3(ii)] A display or price ticket device comprises a frame adapted to be held substantially upright by tongue and groove or equivalent engagement with a support in the form of a pedestal, tag or stem, interchangeable information carrying tablets fitting edge to edge into the frame. The frame 21 is supported on one or more pedestals 23 as shown in Figs. 2, 9 by means of a tongue 22 engaging a groove in the frame. The frame mounts, in grooves 26, interchangeable tablets 27 of transparent plastic having contrasting symbols. the width of the tablets causing it to bow outwardly. An auxiliary frame 36 may be mounted in a groove 24 at the top of the frame 21 and this frame mounts a tablet 39 in grooves similar to that in the frame 21 but arranged vertically. Two or more frames 21 may be positioned side by side, being held together by a strip which enters grooves on the rear of the frame, of similar construction to the label holding grooves 26. The base member 23 may have a groove on its underside to take a triangular spike and this spike may have a keyhole slot to enable the sign to be used inverted hanging from a projection. When a long spike is needed the back of the frame may have a dovetail-shaped groove to take it. In a modification, Fig. 14, a pedestal 53 supports two uprights 50, 51 by means of a tongue and groove connection. One upright has a side groove 58 and the other a side tongue 59, and both have top grooves. These uprights mount between them a plurality of tablets 54 each having a tongue on the base and one side and grooves on the other two sides so that the tablets interlock with the pedestal 53, the side uprights 50, 51 and an auxiliary tablet 61 having a tongue 62 which is positioned over the uprights 50, 51. The Provisional Specification describes a frame to which symbol-carrying tablets are attached by rubber suckers. Specification 656,600 is referred to.
