655,736. Automatic speed and voltage control systems. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Sept. 9, 1948, No. 23713. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A system for controlling a plurality of motors 11, 12, 13 at predetermined speed relationships and in accordance with the speed of motor 10, comprises tachometer A.C. generators 16 ... 19 driven by the motors operating comparison filter circuits 24, 25, 26, which detect frequency differences and provide by means of limiters 27, 28, 29 and chokes 30, 31, 32, voltages proportional to the difference frequencies. These voltages are compared with reference voltages 36, 37, 38 and the differences applied through amplifiers 48, 41, 42 to compensating fields 116, 12b, 13b, which maintain the speeds in the predetermined relationship. The speed of motor 10 is controlled by direct comparison with the reference voltage at 46 or alternatively its speed may be regulated automatically in accordance with the machine, e.g. paper machine, being driven. The motors are supplied by a generator 14, the output voltage of which also is regulated with reference to the standard reference voltage by a circuit 52.
