Abstract
654,459. Spraying animals. BUZACOTTWOLSELEY PTY., Ltd. June 14, 1948, No. 15985. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1941. '[Class 5(i)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a spray dipping apparatus of the kind having nozzles disposed above and below the animals, the flow of spraying fluid to the nozzles is interrupted automatically for definite periods, to give the animals breathspaces, by control means which operates a valve interrupting the flow, the control means comprising an open-topped twocompartmented liquid container which is mounted on a shaft so that it can be moved from side to side depending upon the amount of liquid in the respective compartments. In an embodiment, spraying liquid is delivered by a pump 15 to a rotary valve 18 controlling the flow of the liquid to the two sets of nozzles 12, 13. The valve 18 is actuated automatically to give an intermittent flow by means of a tilting bucket 9 which is connected to the operating lever of the valve by a tie rod 31. Liquid is supplied continuously to the bucket through a pipe 24, and when the compartment of the bucket situated underneath the pipe 24 is filled, the bucket will tilt about stub axles 27 to actuate the valve and, at the same time, bring the empty compartment into position underneath the filling pipe. As the filled compartment tilts downwards, it contacts a spring buffer 32 and the liquid therein flows away to a sump 17.
