Abstract
In reducing the calcium nitrate content of a solution of raw phosphate in nitric acid by cooling and removing calcium nitrate crystals, only a part of the solution is cooled to crystallize out a desired amount of calcium nitrate, the mother liquor after separation of the calcium nitrate being returned to the remainder of the original solution. Specification 339,340, [Class 1 (iii)], is referred to.ALSO:A fertilizer is made from a solution of raw phosphate in nitric acid by adjusting the calcium nitrate content by cooling a part of the solution to the temperature necessary to crystallize out the desired amount of calcium nitrate, separating the crystals from the mother liquor and returning the latter to the remaining part of the original solution, neutralising, e.g. with ammonia, and concentrating the resulting solution and converting it in known manner into a granular product. Specification 339,340, [Class 111], is referred to.
