Abstract
653,634. Optical systems. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Jan. 27, 1948, No. 2459. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1947. [Class 97 (i)] In a system comprising a concave mirror, a transparent element correcting the spherical aberration of the concave mirror and a second, usually plane mirror located optically between them, the dimension of the reflecting or refracting surface of at least one of the elements in a direction normal to the axial plane is greater than its dimension in a direction parallel to the axial plane. The invention is described with reference to the system disclosed in Specification 605,122 comprising a concave spherical mirror 1 receiving light, for example from a cathode-ray tube, through an aperture 7 of a plane mirror 2 which directs light reflected from the mirror 1 on to a Schmidt correcting plate 3 and thence to form an image on a projection screen. To increase the aperture of the system the dimension l is made greater than the dimension h.
