Abstract
618,253. Lens systems. WRAY (OPTICAL WORKS), Ltd., and WYNNE, C. G. May 1, 1946, Nos. 13178 and 22992. [Class 97 (i)] The aberrations of a concave spherical mirror are corrected by at least two meniscus lenses placed before it one convex and the other concave to the mirror, none of the meniscus lenses having its two surfaces concentric and the centres of curvature of all the lens surfaces and that of the mirror lying in the space between the lenses. Fig. 1 shows a system particularly adapted for projection of the image on a cathode-ray tube C, correction being effected by meniscii F, B and a diaphragm A. For use in photography, the film is placed at the focal surface S and a positive lens L provided as " field-flattener " as described in Specifications 24641/95, [Class 97], and 544,694. Alternatively, a plane mirror m may reflect the light through a central aperture a in the mirror and a positive lens L<1>. Numerical data are given for such a lens and also for lenses in which one or both of the meniscii F and B is divided into a positive and negative meniscus.
