Abstract

653,467. Surveying-apparatus. LEMAIRE, M. H. July 13, 1948, No. 18839. Convention date, April 12. [Class 97 (ii)] Apparatus for surveying the level of railway tracks comprises a telescope 1, Fig. 2, and a levelling board 14, Fig. 6, the board being constituted by an apertured screen having a plurality of vertical scales 22 separated by the apertures 23, the portions of the screen above and below the zero line of the scales being differently coloured. The telescope and the board are carried on supports provided with resilient jaws 3, 19 secured to the rail and are adjustable in a vertical direction by means of racks and pinions located in their extensible supports and operated by knobs 9, 17. The amount of vertical adjustment is indicated on scales 7, 16. The telescope is adjustable about a horizontal axis 4 by means of a double-threaded screwed rod 26, 27 and co-operating nut 25. The ends of the screwed rod may be attached to the telescope body and to the supporting foot respectively by means of flexible steel strips for smoother adjustment. The optical axis of the telescope may be deflected through a right-angle so that the eyepiece projects vertically from the end of the telescope body.
