Abstract
653,402. Radio receiving sets. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925), Ltd. Dec. 24, 1947, No. 34197. [Class 40 (v)] In an electrical coupling unit of the kind comprising a tubular insulating carrier having a plurality of circuit elements each constituting a resistance or capacitance applied to the curved surfaces of the carrier, the circuit elements are formed from one or more constituent coatings carried on one curved surface of the carrier and two or more constituent coatings carried on the other curved surface of the carrier. As shown in Fig. 1, the carrier comprises a tube A of ceramic material provided with metallized areas A1, A2 extending round the cylindrical surface to form the two plates of a condenser having terminals constituted by metallic caps B, B1 attached to the ends of the carrier A. An unmetallized area on the outside of the carrier is provided with a coating of resistance material C which may extend helically around the carrier and is connected to the cap B and the metalized area A2. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the metallized internal and external areas of the carrier tube are provided with a skin of insulating material, the resistance material being applied as coatings over the insulating skin. Alternatively, the resistance material may be first applied to the tubular carrier. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement for a filter network in which an insulating tube A contains a rod R of resistance material or having a resistive coating, held in position by metal end caps S1, S2, the two ends of the tube having metallic coatings V1, V2 applied to the inner surfaces and connected with the end caps S1, S2. A further metallic coating V3, provided with a terminal wire T3, is deposited on the outside of the carrier and extended at W3 and W4 over the coatings V1, V2 to form capacitances. Alternatively, as in Fig. 7 (not shown), the capacitance and resistance elements may be arranged side by side and embedded in an insulating moulding. Fig. 4 (not shown) shows an arrangement for an intervalve coupling unit.
