Abstract
Composite ultramarine particles are prepared by slurrying ordinary ultramarine particles with a very dilute aqueous solution of a strong acid, whereby a substantially neutral slurry is formed, slurrying said acid-treated ultramarine particles with sufficient of a dilute aqueous solution of an alkali metal silicate to envelope said particles in a silicate coating, and calcining these particles at between 300 DEG and 800 DEG C. The preferred materials are sulphuric acid and sodium silicate and the preferred temperature range is 500 DEG to 700 DEG C. Specification 617,523 is referred to.
