Abstract

653,148. Agricultural implements. STOFFER, J. V., and LARKIN, F. J. L. Sept. 23, 1948, No. 24926. [Class 6(i)] A detachable point for a ploughshare comprises a hollow sheath 10 which slips over the end of the share and is split longitudinally so that its sides 22, 23 grip the end of the share resiliently. The strip is formed of silico-manganese steel and is forged on a former to the required shape, the curved sides 15 being pressed together to from a pocket for the share tip. The front edges of the sides may be welded together if necessary. The rearward edges 25 of the sides are bevelled to prevent the sheath being pushed off by a rearward movement of the share.
