[Class: 106(v)] [Also in Group I] A test milking apparatus comprises a vacuum driven milking machine a receptacle adapted to be closed air-tight and connected to the milk delivery conduit of the said machine and a test tube removably inserted in the said receptacle so that it communicates with the interior space of the said receptacle and is filled with milk according as the receptacle is filled with milk, the interior space of the said receptacle being also connected to the source of vacuum of the milking machine. In the drawing a casing 100 containing the milking machine is connected to milk receptacle 101 which contains a test tube holder 3, in which the test tube is locked by a key and simultaneously opened, and float 27 for indicating the quantity of milk. A tap 32 is also provided combined with a non-return valve. The milking machine comprises teat cups 4 attached to milk tubes 5 and pulsation tubes 8, the two sets of tubes being wound on spring-controlled drums 6 and 10 respectively so that the teat cups are moved for use against the action of the springs and, when released, are retracted by action of the springs to their position in ports in the casing 101. The drum 6 is connected to the vacuum supply pipe 15 by way of pipe 16 and pipe 7 and drum 8 is connected to pulsator 11. Various stages of operation of the milking machine are recorded on a strip 17 which is unwound from drum 18 and wound on to drum 19 by clockwork mechanism 30. Pencil 23 marks on the strip the times of removal and retraction of the teat cups. Pencil 24, connected to float 27, records the quantity of milk in the receptacle. Numbering roll 28 is operated manually by knob 29 outside the casing 100. Specification 635,428 is referred to.
