Abstract
651,128. Mechanical toys. PRITCHARD S. C. Dec. 17, 1948, No. 32761. [Class 132 (iii)] Each rail 6 of a model railway track has a groove 9 along its under surface which fits over a ridge 2 on a sleeper 1, the ridges on each sleeper being spaced to correspond with the track gauge. The sleepers, which may be moulded from a flexible synthetic resin, e.g. celluloseacetate, have integral rail plates 3 and lugs 4, 5 which retain the rails in position. Alternatively the sleeper is stamped or pressed from metal or fibre sheeting and has integral securing lugs stamped therefrom. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the rail plate 13 is constructed separately with a securing peg 14 for insertion within the sleeper, and is preferably of plastic material.
