[Class 38(iii)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] A control member, e.g. a servo-motor control valve p for adjusting the pitch of a marine propeller may be actuated from any one of a plurality of identical service stations such as I, II, III each of which includes two identical shunt wound motors M, M' and shunt resistances N, N', the motors driving respectively through gearing s and clutches k the sun wheels of a differential D the planet member a of which drives through gearing e, t and a friction clutch r wiper arms of the associated resistances N, N<SP>1</SP>. Assuming, e.g. that the control member H at any station, e.g. station I is moved in one or other direction, a push button switch c associated therewith and actuated simultaneously energizes a relay m which sets the associated time switch Z into operation and energizes over a contact v of the time switch the station relay R which energizes a contactor X to connect the D.C. power lines E over auxiliary lines E<SP>1</SP> to the motors M, M' at stations II and III only. The resistance N at each service station controls the excitation of motor M at the same station but the resistance N<SP>1</SP> controls the excitation of the motor M<SP>1</SP> at the next station in the cycle I, II, III, I. Thus in the example quoted, the movement of the control member H at station I varies the resistance N<SP>1</SP> to vary the excitation of motor M<SP>1</SP> in station II where the motors M, M<SP>1</SP> now run at different speeds and through the differential D adjust the control arm H and resistance N until they correspond in position to that of the control member H at station I when the two motors run at the same speed. The adjustment at station II also sets the associated resistance N' to vary the excitation of motor M<SP>1</SP> in station III where the control arm H and resistors N, N<SP>1</SP> are, similarly set into correspondence with those of stations I, II. The valve p is shown as set by the shaft of control arm H at station III but it may be set from any of the stations.
