[Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] An assembly for use in the construction of roofs, flooring, walls or partitions &c. comprises metal sheets 2, Figs. 1, 6 each having one edge provided with a downwardly extending flange 2b while the opposite edge has flanged portions 2c, 2d forming a groove 2c into which the flange 2b of a similar sheet is engaged, the free edge of the portion 2d being bent outwardly to form a lip 2f having reduced portions 2g and slots 2h which permit the lip to interlock with a channel support 1, e.g. a purlin, having inwardly directed flanges 1e when the grooved edges of the sheets 2 and the flanged edges 2b therein engaged are inserted in slots 1f provided at intervals along the length of the support 1. The slots 2h in the lip permit the reduced portions 2g of the lip to engage beneath the flanges le of the support and the disposition of the slots 2h and portions 2g enable the lip 2f to act as a distance piece preventing inward displacement of the upper parts of the support 1 when under load and to restrain the sheet 2 against movement. The mated flanged and grooved edges of the sheets 2 may be locked, e.g. by cut-out tongues on the flange 2b, Fig. 6, engaging in holes in the grooved edge. Some of the sheets may have side edges terminating over the channel support 1, while others extend beyond the channel to effect a break joint longitudinally of the supports which may be connected end-to-end by socketed or sleeved joints. The sheets 2 may be covered with bituminized felt sheet with or without insulation material.
