Abstract

650,154. Bushes for bungholes. COX, R. D. QUINTON-, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 20, 1948, No. 24583. [Class 21] [Also in Groups XXII, XXV and XXIX] A screw threaded aperture is provided in a thin wall 1 of a light alloy structure, as for a drain plug, by brazing a light alloy bush 2 into the wall and securing a threaded bush 3 within the bush 2 by means of a shrinkage fit. To this end the bush 3 may be applied immediately after the brazing. The bush 3 may be of steel, brass or hard fibres &c., and it is preferably flanged, the flange being cut away on opposite sides to engage between lugs on the bush 2 to prevent relative rotation. In modifications such rotation may be prevented by a grub screw engaging both bushes or by providing the bush 2 with a polygonal bore.
