Abstract

649,407. Cooling systems for engines; heating vehicles and aircraft. PIERCE FOUNDATION, Inc., J. B. Sept. 15, 1948, No. 24282. Convention date, Sept. 26, 1947. [Classes 64(ii) and 64(iii)] A liquid heater 22 is connected by flow and return passages 31, 46 and 41 to the liquid-circulating cooling system of an internal combustion engine 10 having a crankcase 11 containing lubricating oil, and to a heating coil 51 in the crankcase, the cooling system and the parts connected to it being filled with a tetra aryl ortho silicate. The heater, which is heated by solid or liquid fuel or electrically, is also connected by pipes to heating coils for the electric battery 27 and carburetter 38, and to a space heater 57 for the engine space or vehicle interior, and to a de-icer 63 if the system is applied to aircraft. An expansion tank 67 is connected to the high points of the system. Specification 664,398 is referred to.
