Abstract

649,393. Patterns. RONCERAY, R. A. M. July 21, 1948, No. 19519. [Class 83 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A pattern plate is formed with a sinuous passage for a preheating fluid. As shown in Fig. 2, the pattern 2 is supported on a plate 1 which is formed on its underside with a sinuous groove 3 adapted to be closed by means of an asbestos sheet to form a passage for heated air which is supplied through an inlet 4 and discharged through a restricted outlet 5. In a modified form, Fig. 3, the plate is cast about a sinuous copper tube 10 through which the preheating air is passed. The pattern plate is intended for use with a moulding machine utilising compressed air, some of which is taken from the source of compressed air, passed through an electric heater and then through the pattern plate. The heater comprises an insulated chamber containing a heating element through which the air to be heated is passed, preferably in a sinuous path (see Group XI).
