Abstract

648,542. Road-traffic signs. GUISE, A. Jan. 15, 1949, No. 33226/47. [Class 3(ii)] A road traffic stud comprises a steel plunger c which is slidably mounted in a two-part housing a, b under the pressure of a spring d, the upper part of the plunger normally projecting above the road surface and carrying one or more laterally disposed reflectors e which when the plunger is depressed by a vehicle are cleansed and protected by a rubber ring f accommodated in a detachable cap b of convex formation which forms the upper part of the housing. The lower part a of the housing is cupshaped and the upper part is held in position by screws b<SP>2</SP>. The plunger is prevented from rotation by a pin c<SP>3</SP> which engages a slot d<SP>2</SP> in the housing and has a projection c<SP>2</SP> which limits its downward movement. Each reflector is positioned opposite a groove b<SP>1</SP> in the cap b.
