Abstract
648,319. Cycle saddle-clips. TROXEL MANUFACTURING CO. August 8, 1947, No. 22144. Convention date, April 3, 1941. [Class 136 (iii)] A cycle saddle mounting comprises a pair of saddle supporting reach elements 3, 4 having flat indentured surfaces and a saddle post 1 having a stem portion to which a channel shaped member 10 is rigidly secured, indentures on the outer surfaces of the member 10 being locked in engagement with the indentations on the reach bars by adjustable securing means. The channel member 10 is formed from a sheet metal stamping and is rigidly mounted on the saddle post 1 by projecting a reduced end 10<SP>1</SP> of the post through aligned apertures in the web 13 of the stamping 10, with a reinforcing washer 16 superposed over the web and then heading-over the reduced end of the post in a riveting operation. A bolt 18 is projected through aligned apertures in the reach members 3, 4 and stamping flanges 11, 12 and a nut 18<SP>1</SP> turned tightly on the threaded end of the bolt. The washer 16 may be replaced by a channel shaped element 20, Fig. 5, having flanges 21, 22 to reinforce the flanges 11, 12. Alternatively a sleeve 26, Fig. 6, may be telescoped over the bolt and interposed between the flanges 11, 12.
