Abstract

648,313. Aerials. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 4, 1947, No. 14762. [Class 40 (vii)] A vertical aerial 1 at least twenty feet long is suspended within an insulating structure 3 comprised of a series of tubular sections 6, 7, 8, 9. The sections are made of a ceramic material or laminated wood and may be of an openwork or grid-like construction. A closure 11 supports the aerial, the lower end being anchored to a platform 4 at the top of a mast 5 supporting the structure. Intended for television transmission, the aerial comprises a capacity-loaded dipole made several wavelengths long in order to obtain vertical directivity. A number of such dipoles may be stacked vertically within the structure. According to the Provisional Specification the aerial may be constructed to have a multiplefrequency response as described in Specification 628,987.
