Abstract

648,309. Boundary layer control. SOC. RATEAU, and ANXIONNAZ, R. April 16, 1947, No. 10123. Convention date, May 29, 1946. [Class 4] The boundary layer of the wings of a jetpropelled aircraft is sucked through spanwise slots b1, b2..., c1, c2 ... in the wing surfaces into the collecting chamber g of the compressor of a gas turbine i, the forward end of which chamber is closed to the atmosphere. Non-return valves, or compressor fans h1, h2 ... are fitted at the ends of the conduits connecting the wing slots with the collecting chamber, to prevent reverse flow of air. Specification 623,049 is referred to.
