Abstract

647,856. Agricultural implements. ORME, W. H. May 7, 1948, No. 12569. [Class 6(i)] A ploughing machine comprises two beams 1 pivoted at 2 and extending to the rear for carrying right- and left-handed ploughing tools 11, means being provided for raising both the beams and for holding either of them in the raised position while the other is lowered. In the construction shown each beam is fitted with a plate 5 upon which a plate 6 can be pivotally adjusted and secured, the plate 6 being formed with a socket for receiving the forward end of the rear part 4 of the beam 1. Pins 12 engage with the part 4 for adjusting the tool angularly about the transverse axis. Hydraulically controlled arms 14 with chains 13 serve to lift the two beams in unison, the beams being guided during this movement by slideways 10. Near these slideways is a member 15 which can be moved by a lever 16 transversely of the machine to a position under either of the two beams, so that when the arms 14 are lowered only one ploughing tool is lowered into engagement with the ground. When the rear parts 4 are detached a cross member may be fitted into sockets on the front portions of the beams, this member forming a support for a drawbar.
