Abstract

647,462. Moulding concrete tiles &c. WINN, H. J., METROPOLITAN CONCRETE WORKS, Ltd., and STRADLING, Sir R. E. July 11, 1946, No. 20796. [Class 87 (ii)] Relates to moulding- machines for concrete of the type carrying a platen upon which rests the pallet for the article to be moulded, this platen being lifted after moulding to lift out of the mould the pallet with the concrete article upon it. According to the invention, transfer mechanism is provided to receive the pallet carrying the article and transfer both of them to a conveyer when the platen is lowered. Vertically slidable pillars 3 for lifting the platen 1 are connected by links 4, 5 to a shaft 6 mounted in the frame. Arms 18 operating transfer forks 17 are also connected to the shaft 6 by links 21, 24, lost-motion connections such as pin 22 and slot 23 being provided between the arms 18 and links 24. When the lever 7 is drawn in the direction of the arrow the links 4, 5 straighten to raise the platen 1 and, at the same time, forks 17 slide forward on beams 16, the lost motion 22, 23 ensuring that the forks do not pass between the platen 1 and the pallet 13 until the latter are high enough. When the lever 7 is moved back to lower the platen, the transfer forks, now supporting the pallet 13 and moulded article 12, move backwards to deposit them upon a conveyer 11. A vibrating device, not shown, is attached to the underside of the platen 1.
