Abstract
A stable multi-vitamin preparation in solid form is obtained by adding thiamin mononitrate as the thiamin component to vitamin admixtures. In examples some or all of the following vitamins may be present: pantothenic acid (calcium salt), riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, niacinamide, ascorbic acid and vitamins A and D (in the form of fish-liver oil concentrates). In one example, the vitamins are dissolved in a bland oil such as corn oil, excipients such as hydrogenated cottonseed oil and beeswax are added to adjust the viscosity and the mass so formed is filled into soft gelatin capsules. In another, some of the vitamins are mixed with sucrose and corn starch and granulated with starch paste, the rest of the vitamins together with suitable lubricants (talc and calcium stearate) are added and the mass so formed compressed into tablets.
