Abstract

646,882. Preventing incrustation. LOOSLI, H. May 22, 1948, No. 13897. Convention date, June 16, 1947. [Class 123(i)] A method of preventing or removing incrustations upon a liquid container 11 comprisesprises subjecting the container 11 to a series of groups of super-sonic vibrations, e.g. by magnetostriction or piezo-electric effects, the vibrations in each group being of decreasing amplitude. A nickel rod 6 is caused to vibrate by magnetostriction by discharging a condenser 5 through a coil 7 surrounding the rod 6, which is enclosed in a tube 8 secured to the container 11. In an alternative arrangement, the rod 6 bears on a diaphragm which is in contact with the surface of the liquid in a tube.
