Abstract
1,178,645. Ultrasonic cleaning apparatus. BRANSON INSTRUMENTS, Inc. 26 April, 1968 [9 May, 1967], No. 19847/68. Heading A4F. Ultrasonic cleaning apparatus, comprising for example a transducer arranged to produce ultrasonic vibrations in cleaning liquid in a tank in which articles to be cleaned are immersed, includes an oscillating electric circuit which energizes a transducer at a frequency higher than the antiresonance frequency of the transducer. In the transistor oscillator circuit illustrated, current pulses of mean value Io pass to the transducer 14 via the primary coil 24aa of a transformer 24, whilst current pulses of greater mean value Ii pass to a condenser 22 via the transformer primary coil 24a, whereby current pulses are produced in the transformer secondary coil 24b of mean value If proportional to the difference between Ii and Io. The latter current pulses pass in a feedback circuit to the base of the transistor 30 to initiate the driving pulses of the oscillator in a transformer primary coil 28a. The circuit is such that in the event of an increase in the current value Io due to a resonance condition at the transducer 14, the reduction in the difference between Io and Ii reduces If to increase the frequency of the oscillation to a value above that causing resonance at the transducer 14.
