[Class 75(iii)] [Also in Group XVII] In a cigarette case combined with pyrophoric lighter which is ignited automatically by the closing of the lid of the case, the trigger or finger piece of the lighter being actuated when a spring-loaded, pivoted control member is displaced by the lid, the control member pivots about a vertical axis and includes a spring-loaded pawl for engagement with the tail of the trigger. The lighter may be operated independently of the case. The tail 8 of the trigger extends down into the path of a spring-loaded pawl 15 pivoted at the free end of, and between the sides of, a channelshaped control lever 9, the other end of which is pivoted on a vertical pin 10 fixed to a base plate 13 secured to the bottom of a recess, which is formed above the cigarette case and which slidably receives the lighter mechanism. The lever 9 is urged by a spring 20 through a slot 16 in one wall of said recess, and is pushed in by the lid 17 of the cigarette case during closing of the latter, so that the nose 15a of the pawl 15 rocks the tail 8 of the trigger to actuate the lighter. In the fully closed position of the lid 17 the nose 15a of the pawl lies behind the tail 8; as the lid is opened the lever 9 is spring-urged outwards and the pawl slips over the tail 8, so that it is ready to actuate the lighter again. Outward movement of the lever 9 is limited by the engagement of the pawl with the edge of the slot 16. Specification 532,806 is referred to.
