Abstract

644,527. Flexible couplings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and WILSON, H. May 25, 1948, No. 14068. [Class 80(ii)] In a resilient coupling comprising interengaging trough-shaped ring members 1, 2 providing three or more annular spaces occupied by rubber annuli 3, 4, 5, the rubber is .bonded to the circumferential walls of the annular spaces but extends short of the radial webs 8, 14 of the troughs so as to leave air spaces 15, 18 in which the heads of the securing bolts 9 are disposed. The air spaces are formed by casting into the base of each trough, prior to moulding the rubber into position, a soluble core, such as described in Specification 632,972, [Group V], which is afterwards dissolved out through holes in the webs 8, 14. The members 1, 2 may be polygonal. Specification 567,536 also is referred to.
