[Class 53] An accumulator plate comprises a conducting frame in which are supported a number of conducting carriers for the active material, the carriers being made of a material unaffected by the chemical reactions in the accumulator and the active material being in thin layers which are covered with a material permeable to ions, for example a film formed by dipping the plate in a film-forming solution. Fig. 3 shows a part of a plate comprising a frame 5 supporting carriers 6, 7.. Each carrier is made from a strip of aluminium or a lead-aluminium . or lead-antimony alloy which is covered with a thin foil of lead forming the active material which is covered with a film of regenerated cellulose. The strip may be folded in zig-zag as shown at 6 or rolled up as at 7 and the completed carriers may be connected to the frame by soldering. Two similar carriers may be inserted from opposite sides in the same opening, being soldered to metal sheets which extend across the central plane of the opening. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which fins 10 formed on a cast or extruded frame form the carriers. The fins are coated with lead electrolytically and are then covered with a film permeable to ions. ‹
