[Class 37] [Also in Groups XL (a) and XL (c)] A plan-position indicator display in a radar system is associated with a light-filter which is mounted in front of the display and rotates in synchronism with the rotating radial trace thereof. In the embodiment described the filter is graded so that maximum attenuation of the indications occurs just after they are produced and the filter density then decreases uniformly until no attenuation occurs just before the next '' paint," so that as the indications fade they are attenuated progressively less and an appearance of a constant intensity display is produced. Moreover, indications produced during the previous aerial scan by objects which have since disappeared are rendered invisible by the high density of the filter as the radial trace passes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes filter discs, as shown for example in Fig. 10A (Cancelled), comprising a narrow radially-extending filter portion which may be used to reduce the intensity of the brilliant blue line produced by the rotating radial trace without attenuating the afterglow. A filter-disc having a narrow diametrically-extending portion is also described. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
