Abstract

1337044 Cathode-ray tube displays STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 18 March 1971 7181/71 Heading H4T [Also in Division H1] A display device includes a circular polarizer 5 in front of the face of a cathode ray tube, and has an optical interference filter 4 intermediate the phosphor 3 of the CRT and the inner surface of its face. An absorption filter may be located between the interference filter and the circular polarizer. As shown, the face 72 of the CRT is formed as this filter. The circular polarizer 5 preferably has a broad-band anti-reflective coating 6. The pass-band of the interference filter 4 is preferably matched with the spectral emission of the phosphor.
