Abstract
642,378. Paper-making machine felts. ORR FELT & BLANKET CO. Feb. 20, 1947, No. 4993. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1946. [Class 96] Felts for paper-making machines &c. are impregnated as by spraying or immersion, with 10 to 25 per cent of a mixture of polyvinyl alcohol and an aqueous emulsion or solution of synthetic rubber, e.g. a butadiene acrylonitrile copolymer, or a synthetic resin, e.g. urea- or phenol-formaldehyde or polyvinyl butyral. Excess is removed by centrifuging &c. and the resin &c. cured, e.g. for 3 hours at 200‹ to 225‹ F. Curing catalysts, e.g. diammonium phosphate or tartaric acid may be used. Specifications 626,873, 627,564, [Group XXXVI], and 638,275 are referred to.
