Abstract

642,068. Treating gases with liquids. HARVEY, D., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 30, 1948, No. 20336. [Class 55(ii)] Laboratory apparatus for contacting gases or vapours with liquids comprises a column containing random-packed elements in the form of gauze rings. the ratio of the greatest horizontal dimension of the column taken at any horizontal plane to the smallest overall dimension of a packing element at that plane being less than two. In the form shown, a laboratory distillation column 1 of 6 m.m. internal diameter is filled with a packing 2 consisting of 4 m.m. x 4 m.m. rings of stainless steel wire gauze. Specification 578,309 is referred to.
