Abstract

641,698. Weighing-apparatus. CAMPBELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and FRAMPTON, K. P. Feb. 16, 1948, No. 4539. [Class 143] A pendulum counterbalanced weigh scale has two indicators operated by separate cams so that one indicates all loads up to the heaviest and the other light loads only. Journalled in a bracket 12 are spindles 14, 15 on which are pivotally mounted a pair of lever arms 18, 20 and a pair of guide links 22, 23, said pairs of levers and links being interconnected by spindles 26, 27 secured to a weigh pan supporting pillar 28. The right hand ends of the pairs of levers and links are connected with the pendulum weight 33 and cam followers 35, 36 respectively. Pivotally mounted on another bracket 13 are a pair of indicating arms 40, 41 which are integral with slotted cams 42, 45 engaging said followers 35, 36. In operation, small displacements of the mechanism are represented by large deflections of arm 40 and small deflections of arm 41 but large displacements are indicated by arm 41 alone, portion 44 of cam 42 then forming a lost motion connection between arm 40 and the movable links. Over displacement of the mechanism is prevented by a cushioned stop 50 engaging the pillar 28, and resilient pads 48, 34 prevent damage by sudden removal of the load.
