Abstract

640,883. Mattresses and the like. LEN, Ltd., AMBROSE, C. W., and SORBO, Ltd. Sept. 27, 1948, No. 25198. [Class 52 (iv)] In seats, mattresses, &c. having a spring surface composed of an elastic cord or cords stretched over a framework the curved portions of a number of endless cords between the transverse stretches are anchored to framework in the same plane as the transverse stretches. As shown, slots d are formed in the frame b with tapered surfaces and the curved portion c of the cord or cords a is bent round a key i of wedge form which is then inserted into the slot d the tension of the cord a then forcing the key i into locking position. A cover plate is provided for the slot or slots d. In a modification the curved portion may be arranged around a grooved and curved block and the whole enclosed in a strip of canvas &c. webbing the ends of which are secured to the framework as by nailing.
