Abstract

640,424. Portmanteaux &c. FINNIGANS, Ltd., and FINNIGAN, B. W. May 1, 1948, No. 11983. [Classes 18 and 133] In a travelling bag, suitcase or portmanteau of the type having a frame removably attached to the inside of the lid around which frame a garment or garments may be wrapped, the frame C is of rectangular shape with a U-shaped portion c<1> on one side engaged by a spring clip d4 on a coat hanger D adapted to engage a spring clip or tongue b on a plate B on the lid A. The frame has feet c at each end. A hook d<3> for hanging purposes is pivoted on a plate d<5> affixed to the hanger. The spring clip d<4> is also attached to the plate d<5> and engages the portion c<1> of the frame C when the hook d<3> is pivoted as shown in Fig. 3. The frame C may carry a fabric or other sleeve c<2>, and it may be retained in position by one or more bands a3. A dust cover may be hingedly attached to the lid, while tabs a<4> with press studs a<5> may be used to retain the dust cover closed. The other portion of the bag also may have a dust cover.
