[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups I and VI] A machine for continuously producing fried foods, including French fried potatoes, comprises a potato sizing and cutting device, Fig. 7 (not shown), a deep fat vessel 34 with thermostatically controlled electric heating 43, 44, 45 and conveyers 35, 46 with wire baskets 36 and resilient mesh baffles 55 respectively. After washing in vessel 27, the slabs are drained off in the conveyer 35 and are carried over into the frying vessel 34 where conveyer 46 carries the slabs through and out of the heated fat. Food requiring different cooking times may be inserted at marked points A, B, C, D and manually operated variable-speed controls are provided for the conveyer drives.
