Abstract
640,210. Milking-machines. CARR, J. B., and DIGWOOD, H. J. March 20, 1948, No. 8341. [Class 84] Milking apparatus comprises a frame, which may be formed of side members 12 and a bottom member 13, forming a support for one or more recording units 26, the frame being adapted to be suspended from the roof of the building in which the animals are normally housed. The frame carries, at one or each side, a swinging arm 15 projecting approximately horizontally towards a side wall of the building, the arm serving to support those parts of the milk pipe and pulse pipe which extend from the frame to the free end of the swinging arm, the said pipes depending from the free end of the arm and terminating in a teat cup cluster 27 which can be applied successively to a number of animals housed in the stalls along the side of the building, the arm being swung as required between milking operations, The arms 15 may be connected to the frame by a universal joint 14 and may be supported at its outer end by an inclined spring or elastic stay 17. The outer end of each arm may carry a pulsator 21. The recording units 26 comprise recording jars and spring balances disposed above and connected to the jars, the balances and jars being suspended from the upper part of the frame and being readily removable therefrom. A plurality of frames may be spaced along the length of a building served by common milk and vacuum lines 22 and 23.
