Abstract
639,312. Blasting - devices. VICTOR PRODUCTS (WALLSEND), Ltd., and GILLESPIE, G. May 28, 1948, No. 14522 [Class 9 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A blasting cartridge a is placed in a bore-hole and seats against a shoulder formed by an extension g of reduced diameter, the extension forming an air cushion for the cartridge. A clay tamping b is then pressed into the bore-hole around the firing connection c. The bore-hole extension may be formed by using a drill with a smaller bit after the main bore-hole has been drilled or by using the tool shown in Figs. 5 and 6. This tool has a main drill rod m with a single-winged bit n fitted with a shorter and smaller drill rod o with a single-winged bit p. Double-winged bits may be used. The smaller rod may have a threaded end q screwed into the main rod. Specification 518,747, [Group XXII], is referred to.
