Abstract
639,183. Radio receiving circuits. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd., and FAIRHURST, H. A. April 24, 1945, No. 10318. Addition to 532,521. [Class 40 (v)] In an interference suppression system according to the parent Specification, the input circuit of an audio-frequency stage is shunted by a diode provided with a delay bias comprising a D.C. component and also an audio-frequency component derived over a time-delay network. According to the present invention, in such an arrangement the D.C. component is made to vary automatically according to the received signal amplitude. The input to the cathodefollower stage V3 is taken from the potentiometer R1, R2, C1, the resistance R2 being shunted by the diode V2. The cathode of the diode V2 is connected to the cathode load resistance R3 of the valve V3 over the time-delay network L, C and R8. A biassing potential varying according to signal strength is applied to the anode of the diode V2 over the resistance R2, being derived from the diode V4. The diode V4 may, as shown, be connected across the cathode resistance R3 through blocking condensers C2, C3, C6, a variable datum potential being derived from the potentiometer R7. Alternatively (Figs. 6, 7, not shown), the cathode of the diode V4 may be returned over a D.C. path to a variable tapping on the resistance R3, the resistance R2 being returned to a tapping point in the load circuit of the diode V4. It is stated that the arrangement may be further modified to give a biassing potential which is also dependent upon the frequency of the received signal.
