638,612. Baling-presses. JONES, D. T., and JONES, G. March 19, 1948, No. 8182. [Class 94(i)] To retain material in a baling chamber during the return stroke of the baling ram c, the sides a of the chamber are formed with vertical slots e through which project elongated V-shaped stop members k carried by pairs of pivoted arms j acted on by compression springs m, the members being moved outwardly by the charge of material during the working stroke of the ram. Similar slots and members may, if desired, be provided in the top and bottom of the chamber. The springs m may be replaced by helical springs surrounding the spindle on which the arms are pivoted or by leaf springs bearing against the rear of the members k. The sides of the ram are fitted with striker plates c<SP>1</SP> where they engage the members k. Specification 615,876 is referred to.
