Abstract
637,545. Displaying. ORR, D. L. D. Aug. 11, 1947, No. 22286. [Class 3(i)] A series of receptacles 13 for messages are attached to a belt or chain type conveyer at intervals, the conveyer being driven so that each receptacle travels in a predetermined time from a receiving station situated at or near the beginning of the conveyer run to a disposal station 20, the receptacle being accessible for removal of messages between the stations and the arrangement being such that on reaching the disposal station any remaining messages are disc h a r g e d automatically. The conveyer comprises two chains driven by an electric motor or clockwork so as to make one circuit in 96 hours. Between the chains, shelves 13 are pivoted on extensions of the chain link pins and they are kept in a horizontal position when moving downwardly on the delivery run by flexible ties 16. Messages are put on to the topmost shelf which forms the receiving point and the front of each shelf is suitably indexed. A series of weights 18 carried by resilient arms 19 are provided to hold the messages in position. At the bottom of the conveyer the weights drop and allow messages which have not been collected to drop into a disposal tray 20 which may be removable or have a hinged cover 21. The separate weights may be replaced by a spring- loaded bar.
