Abstract

636,910. Tubular heat-exchange elements. WERA-APPARATEBAU AKT.-GES. July 24, 1947, No. 19980. Convention date, June 7, 1946. [Class 64(iii)] A tube 1 has an outer jacket 2 comprising inter-connected hollow fins 3 separated by air spaces 4, the jacket being formed by bending a sheet of metal successively in opposite directions through a right angle so that the fins 3 are mutually parallel, Fig. 2 then forming the jacket to enclose a tube, Fig. 3, and fitting the ends 5, 6 of the sheet one within the other. The tube is inserted into the jacket and the fins may be soldered at intervals to the tube. The outer profile of the jacket may have any desired shape and may be covered by an outer tube. A plurality of finned jackets 2 may be spaced along the tube 1 as in Fig. 7.
