Abstract

636,812. Tube scrapers. ANNING. F. J. C., and LAMPARD, J. W. May 5, 1948, No. 12351. [Class 99(ii)] A pipe 1, such as a boiler feed-water pipe, and a rotatable shaft 3 disposed therein each carries a scraping-blade or blades 9, 10 and 7, 8 respectively so that on rotation of the shaft scale is removed both from the shaft and pipe, the blades 7, 8 being also arranged to remove scale from the pipe exit. The shaft 3 may be rotated by a handwheel 4, and the blades may be tapered and extend radially of the shaft and pipe such that rotation of the former is limited to about 110 degrees. Portions 11 of the shaft blades extend through circumferential slots 5 through which the water passes into the boiler.
