[Class 138 (i)] In a floor-polisher, Fig. 1, in which pressure applied to the handle, fitting into a socket 19, depresses a plunger 13 to expel wax from a cylindrical container 1 on to a polish-applying pad 3, the container has a circumferential seating 5 to which a perforated disc 6 is secured and on which a perforated disc 9 coupled to a lever 10, Fig. 3, rests, which lever projects through the container wall and is pivoted thereto at 11, and enables the disc 9 to be turned relatively to the disc 6 and so control the flow of wax on to the pad. The pad 3 is housed within a flared skirt 2, integral with the container 1, and is fixed to the disc 6 by a screw 7 and nut 8. The socket 19 is pivoted in the slot 18 of a pillar 17, Fig. 2, fitted to the plunger 13 and rotatable thereon. The pillar can be looked to the plunger by means of a rod 21 fitting in a portion 20 and spring-urged downwardly, which rod engages in a recess 22 in the plunger. The rod can be raised against the spring (not shown) by turning the handle 23 which rides up a cam surface 24. The plunger 13 is provided with an upturned disc 16 of leather or like material, to ensure that it fits tightly in the container 1. Vertical movement of the plunger is restricted by a pin 26, urged by a spring 27, into a recess 25 in the plunger wall. The lever 10 engages in a V- shaped recess, Fig. 3, cut out of the edge of the disc 9, the top of which recess is covered by a V-shaped plate (not shown). After the application of polish, the pad 3 may be covered by a detachable square block, the upper surface of which is recessed to receive the circumferential rim 4 at the base of the skirt 2, while the lower face has secured thereto, or is formed to receive, a polishing-pad.
