635,586. Vehicle hoods. COENEN, W. F. July 2, 1947, No. 17414. Convention date, Aug. 16, 1946. [Class 108 (i)] A sliding roof for vehicles comprises a slidable panel 2 for covering an opening 1 in the canopy, the canopy being provided with a locking device operable from the interior of the vehicle. Clamping members 12, 13 are moved upwardly by bellcranks 10, 11 to lock the panel in any desired position and in the closed position of the panel 2 the members 12, 13 will raise the panel to the level of the canopy. The panel 2 is guided at its forward end by members 17 which engage longitudinal guides 18 and the rear end of the panel is guided by the member 19 engaging the guide 20 and when locking handle 3 is turned clamping members 12, 13 are raised by bell-cranks 10, 11 operated by rods 8, 9, sectors 6, 7 and rods 4, 5, thus locking the panel against the guides. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 463,749.
