635,247. Blowpipe burners. CINCINNATI MILLING MACHINE CO. July 2, 1947, No. 17439. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1945. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group II] An oxy-acetylene burner for use in a heat treating apparatus comprises a circular body 209 connected to hollow arms 210 which form receiving chambers for the gas. A baffle plate 214, having a series of radial holes 218 is secured in the housing and a detachable burner plate 219 is mounted on the inside of the housing. Provision may also be made for water cooling the body. In operation in an automatic apparatus oxygen and acetylene valves are operated electrically, on starting the acetylene in advance of the oxygen and on stopping the oxygen in advance of the acetylene, and the gas ignited by an electric spark. The burners may also comprise body portions 24 having jets 26 of various lengths to suit the workpiece.
