Abstract

635,143. Endoscopes. AMERICAN CYSTOSCOPE MAKERS, Inc. May 6, 1947, No. 12201. Convention date, May 31, 1946. [Class 81(ii)] A cystoscope is made with a tubular sheath in the form of two cylindrical arcuate sections intersecting along parallel lines. In the form described a circular section telescope 30 fits into the upper section 11 of the tube 10 and a catheter or other device may be introduced into the lower section 12 being inserted in the guide tube 27 and deflected outwards at the inner end by an abutment 19. Apertures 33, 35 in the extension of the upper cylindrical section are provided for a lamp and the telescope objective respectively, and a curved beak 18 facilitates negotiation of bends during insertion. The telescope is made a fluid tight fit by means of a tapered connection 37 and is located by a pin 38. A petcock 25 is provided for the introduction of fluids and a marker 22 indicates the angular position of the beak 18. During insertion the lower channel 12 is closed by a flexible obturator inserted through the tube 27.
